Here is your Batman: Year One voice cast

Just a few days after rumors pointed towards a possible animated adaptation of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, the fine folks over at THR’s HeatVision blog are reporting that Ben McKenzie, Brian Cranston, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackoff have signed on to lend their vocal talents to the upcoming animated film of Miller’s classic Batman: Year One story arc.

McKenzie will take on the role of the Caped Crusader, while Cranston and Dushku will be playing (not yet Commissioner) Jim Gordon and Catwoman, respectively. Sackoff, my favorite addition to the cast, will voice Detective Sarah Essen, who serves as a love interest for Gordon. Veteran character actor Alex Rocco will appear as well, stepping into the shoes of crime boss Carmine Falcone. A pair of images from the film were also released, both of which you can be seen in the gallery below.Year Onewill be premiering this July at San Diego Comic-Con before getting a DVD and Blu-Ray release sometime this fall.

Year One chronicles Bruce Wayne’s early days as a crimefighter, as well as the beginning of Jim Gordon’s career with the Gotham City Police Department. As some may recall, Miller’s Year One arc was the basis of Darren Aronofsky’s abandoned pre-Batman Begins reboot of the movie franchise. Still, Year One has remained a significant influence for Christopher Nolan’s Bat-films. Personally, I was a pretty big fan of the last DC Animated Universe flick All Star Superman, and I absolutely love Miller’s work with Batman, so color me excited for Year One.

And seriously, I’ll watch Katee Sackoff in anything. Anything
