Here’s your first look at Rocky the stage musical

It was ages ago when we first mentioned the stage musical adaptation of Rocky, but now we have your first look at the production, which is headed to Broadway in February or March 2014. And… well… it looks and sounds a little like a parody of musical theater adaptations. It will probably be well staged, at least. Alex Timbers is directing the production, and his previous credits include directing Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (for which he also wrote the book) and The Pee-Wee Herman Show.

Needless to say, I need to watch this, but I really, really wish the actor playing Rocky would sing in Sylvester Stallone’s mumbling growl.

After the cut, a longer video about the Rocky musical from Germany, where the show debuted last fall with an apparently successful run. The name in German (which should also be the domestic release name): Rocky Das Musical Fight from the Heart.
