Hugh Jackman talks about meat

Hugh Jackman is playing our favorite bad-ass mutant once again in the upcoming Wolverine 2 film directed by Darren Aronofsky. Wolverine’s a pretty tough guy. So what is Hugh Jackman focusing on lately? Bulking up, and that means tons and tons of meat.

Vulture caught him at Elton John’s Enduring Vision gala recently, where Jackman was very excited about dinner. “Expect to see four chicken breasts and a whole pile of steamed broccoli on my plate. I’m starting; I’m having my six meals a day.” Six meals? That seems just a bit excessive. I can barely handle two small meals myself. Better be careful you aren’t sidelined into playing fellow mutant The Blob.

Jackman also promises that Aronofsky’s film will be dark, despite the big budget afforded to the film. “This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark.” Wolverine, dark? And here I was expecting Wolverine to get an wisecracking animal sidekick and learn the true value of friendship.

Of course, Jackman’s mind had to bring it back to dinner. “There’s going to be some meat on those bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.” Just make sure you’re thinking about your waistline, Mr. Jackman — I’d hate to see a flabby Logan trying to jump around and growl “bub” at people.
