The international trailer for Anonymous gives a lot more story detail than the trailer we posted last week. Rhys Ifans plays the Duke of Oxford, who some real world conspiracy theorists claim wrote the plays of Shakespeare for political gains, and that is the story Anonymous tells. I like that they’re portraying William Shakespeare as a bit of an idiot and a patsy. It fits well with the conspiracy of the story. All that said, they need a new song. The first trailer with “Everything in its Right Place” was really neat and atmospheric, the second one was ok, and now it’s just obnoxious. I’m not expecting Radiohead to show up in the movie as some kind of minstrel band, just so they can play the song in the movie.
