Jackie Chan slates new English-language Hollywood film

Jackie Chan is setting up his next movie, though sadly it’s not a remake of Gene Kelly’s It’s Always Fair Weather. (Maybe next time.) Currently untitled, the project is described as a “two-hander action comedy” in which Chan plays a detective on the trail of an American gambler. The film will take place in Hong Kong, Macau, Eastern Europe, and mainland China. Jay Longino (Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation) has been hired to write the screenplay. In other news– hold on, there was a Bachelor Party 2?

Part of me is put off by this news since Chan’s Hollywood films have been routinely mediocre at best, and this is coming from a guy who legitimately liked Shanghai Knights. Worst case scenario is that the new project winds up being another Tuxedo or Spy Next Door.

But in the meantime, we’re waiting for the release of Chinese Zodiac, the third Armor of God movie. It’ll be out in Singapore and China in December and then Greece in January, though no word on further international release dates.
