The time has finally come. Iconic stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob will be returning to cinema this October in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. A meta-sequel poking fun at the recent trend of Hollywood rebooting everything, this latest installment in the “View Askewniverse” will see Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith toking up and traveling across the nation to stop a potential reboot of the in-universe film “Bluntman and Chronic” that was a part of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back almost 20 years ago.
Nearly everyone from the original is coming back and there are even new guest stars in the form of Chris Hemsworth and Rosario Dawson (who would later star in Clerks 2). While not getting a full theatrical release, Reboot will be seeing a limited two night run in select theaters to promote a roadshow that Smith has set for the movie. Running on October 15 and 17, the event was put together by Fathom Events in coordination with distributor Saban Films. Fathom CEO Ray Nutt said, “Smith and Mewes’ loyal fans have waited long enough to see them reprise their title role in this new chapter. We’re pleased to be partnering with them, along with Saban Films, to deliver this exclusive two-night event to fans across the country.”
Saban VP Jonathan Saba added, “We are huge fans of Kevin Smith and his work, and are privileged that he and his team had faith in us as a partner on ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.’ This has been a passionate initiative for us at Saban Films, and an honor to work with Kevin. In Fathom, we have a partner who shares our vision to give fans in every corner of the country the opportunity to catch their counter-culture heroes on the big screen in a true theatrical event.”
As for the roadshow, you can find out information about dates and locations by checking out the official website. It will begin on October 21 and run until December 12, hitting most major cities along the way. A $750 VIP package will net you some one-on-one time with the duo and a bunch of extra goodies, should you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket.
