By Six months ago, I wrote about the potential casting of James Franco in Noah Baumbach’s next film, While We’re Young. First Showing is now reporting that Jesse Eisenberg is set to replace Franco in the film. If the rumor’s true, Eisenberg will be joining Ben Stiller as another Baumbach alumni. For fans of The Squid and the Whale, this is great news as, at least to me, Eisenberg’s role in that film was what attracted me to his talent as an actor.
However, unlike our original post about While We’re Young, it seems as if Greta Gerwig isn’t currently on track to join the cast as the article states an actress is still being searched for Eisenberg’s partner. Maybe Baumbach can stick with the theme of casting previous collaborators and cast Brie Larson to complement Eisenberg’s character. I might just be saying that because I think she’s pretty. Make it happen, Noah!
