JGL and Channing Tatum wanted for Guys and Dolls remake

With the sputtering revival of the film musical and the absolute dominance of remakes in Hollywood it’s a small wonder that more classic musicals haven’t been remade yet. One of those classics, Guys and Dolls, has been on Hollywood’s hot list for a while, Nancy Sinatra never got a deal she liked until now. 20th Century Fox has finally secured the rights and is planning to launch the film with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum taking the places of Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. Evidently the two are interested as well though no director or screenwriter has been named yet.

In all honesty, Guys and Dolls may be considered a classic, but it’s only because it was insanely popular at the time thanks to its music and actors. Brando was horribly miscast and the movie itself could use a lot of work. Tatum and Gordon-Levitt however seem perfectly cast for the gangster roles and we know both have the chops to sing and dance after their Oscar number. It’s hard not to be a little excited for the movie despite it being so early in its production.
