Jim Carrey in talks for Steve Carell magician movie

Looks like Jim Carrey and Steve Carell might co-star in a movie again. There are reports that Carrey is negotiating for a starring role in Burt Wonderstone.

The film will focus on the rivalry between two magicians. Carell plays the eponymous Vegas illusionist who broke up with his performance partner, and one assumes Carrey will play the upstart street magician whose star is rising. It sort of sounds like “The Great Simpsina” episode of The Simpsons, which makes sense because they’ve done everything.

Burt Wonderstone will be directed by Don Scardino, who has extensive TV direction credits, including 30 Rock and Law & Order. In addition, Scardino looks like he could play Philip Seymour Hoffman’s lovable older brother in real life. As of press time, there is no word on if Morgan Freeman will reprise his role as God or if David Bowie will reprise his role as Nikola Tesla.
