John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum first trailer loves it some Sinatra

There are good trailers and then there are good trailers. This is the latter.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum might have a needlessly long title but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be chock full of all the John Wick goodness we’ve come to expect and the first trailer for the film pretty much confirms that by having Keaunu Reeves tomahawk-throw a machine gun at a bad guy. Brought a tear to my how beautiful that was.

The trailer does a pretty good job of explaining the pretty limited plot to the film as well. Everyone is trying to kill John Wick so John Wick is going to kill everyone. The Sinatra playing over it, though, is just too perfect and hopefully gives a sense of how the actual film will play out. Honestly, just from this glimpse, the movie looks better than the second. There are already multiple scenes that look like they’re going to blow our minds. That may be in part because direct Chad Stahelski has a full film on his own under his belt now after co-directing the first movie and helming the second solo.

Oh, and there’s dogs. We all know that dogs are not safe in John Wick movies. However, looking at Halle Berry and her attack pups at the end of the trailer I’m not sure too many are going to die this time around. And god only knows what Laurence Fishburne is going to get up to this time. I kind of want that little thing he’s holding to be a bottle of sake and we get a drunken boxing fight.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will release on May 17, 2018.
