John Williams will score Star Wars: Episode VII

It’s now official: John Williams will be back to score Star Wars: Episode VII and likely the rest of the new trilogy. The announcement was made over the weekend by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy during Star Wars Celebration Europe.

Williams is 81 and is not as prolific as he was in the past, so it’s nice to have him returning to the series he helped define. The Star Wars movies wouldn’t be the same without his iconic score, which was the best part of the prequels.

The video after the cut was released over the weekend and features Williams discussing his return to the Star Wars universe.
