Judy Blume’s Tiger Eyes coming to the big screen

If you were a child in the latter half of the 20 century then you read a book by Judy Blume. That’s just how it is. With this fact in mind, it’s a little surprising that none of her children’s or young-adult novels have been made into big screen movies, especially with the number of lesser books in the genre that have. However, that fact is about to be remedied by Blume herself. She has announced that she and her son, Lawrence, are working on a screenplay based on her book Tiger Eyes.

If you were a child in the latter half of the 20 century then you read a book by Judy Blume. That's just how it is. However, that fact is about to be remedied by Blume herself. She has announced that she and her son, Lawrence, are working on a screenplay based on her book Tiger Eyes.

Blume's books, especially Tiger Eyes, often dealt with heavy "adult" emotions, so it will be interesting to see how that translates into a children's film or if the target demographic will be a more angsty teen set. Either way, let's hope it gets the proper marketing because we all saw what happened to Bridge to Terabithia when the trailers flat out lied.
