Jump Street to get female led spin-off and Men in Black crossover

Sony’s really putting all of their eggs in one basket. Banking on the few films that work, Sony’s slowing turning all of their properties (and future properties) into huge universes. Starting with Spider-Man, continuing on with Ghostbusters, and now with the Jump Street franchise. However, these next couple of films sound way to awesome to ignore like the others.

According to The Wrap, the next film in the Jump Street series will take aim at crossovers (just as the first did with reboots and the second did with sequels) with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum investigating aliens with the Men in Black. That’s right, they’re showing up in the Men in Black universe. Apparently, this was part of Sony’s leaked emails from last year but we steered clear of that, so this is all awesome news to me.

The even better news? Sony has tapped Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs (seen as Trey, Abbi’s boss on Broad City) to write a female-led spin-off. I’m all for this. Even better if they get Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer on board to star. A man can dream.
