Jurassic Park 3D re-release in IMAX for one week only

Universal Pictures and IMAX have announced today that they will have a one-week run of director Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D starting April 5th. This will coincide with Jurassic Park 3D wide release also beginning on April 5th. The reason for the limited IMAX run is because of Universal’s other film Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise, will exclusively open in IMAX theaters the following week on April 12th

While it is nice and all for them to re-release such a film classic for its 20th anniversary, I am not a personal fan of post-converted 3D and up-converting IMAX because it is an afterthought on part by the studios to make more money. That and it does not always look as good as being filmed in 3D or IMAX to begin with. I do understand that from a purely business stand-point, re-releasing or releasing films with 3D and IMAX is an easy way for studios to make money.

Despite my slight bickering, if you want to see Jurassic Park on a very big screen and in 3D, this is your film to see when it releases. I’ll probably be seeing this when it comes out because I’m a sucker for Spielberg and Jurassic Park myself.  That and seeing Jeff Goldblum again because I always get a kick out of him.
