Kick Ass 2 gets a release date, 47 Ronin pushed back

Universal have announced a virtual smorgasbord of release date changes for its upcoming schedule, with the most noteworthy news being that Kick Ass 2, the sequel to Matthew Vaughan’s post-modern teenage superhero pic, is set to clumsily punch its way onto screens on June 28th of next year. I liked but didn’t much love the original, but any chance to revisit Chlöe Grace Moretz’s breakout character, Hit-Girl, is one not to be missed.

Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves’ samurai slash ’em up 47 Ronin is being dragged back over a year from November 2012 to December 2013, thus violating the key samurai rule of never showing weakness by taking a step back in a duel. Jurassic Park 3D is also retreating to April 5th, although the Jason Bateman comedy Identity Thief is pushed forward to February 8th. Ryan Reynolds’ supernatural thriller R.I.P.D. goes back from June 28th to July 19th, and dates have been set for Mark Wahlberg / Denzel Washington thriller 2 Guns (August 16th) and Richard Curtis’ undoubtedly sickly sentimental time travel rom-com About Time (May 10th).
