Kickstart a documentary on Tim Burton’s Superman Lives

Tim Burton’s Superman Lives would have been an oddball Superman film. Not oddball in the kooky Mort Weisinger way, but just f**king bonkers. Robotic rainbow suits, Nic Cage, giant spiders, Burtonized Brainiac. That’s why Jon Schnepp is trying to make a feature-length documentary on this unmade cult classic.

Schnepp says that The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? will feature interviews with the artists and designers of the movie as well as the VFX people. In addition, he hopes to land interviews with Kevin Smith (who wrote the first draft of the screenplay), producers Jon Peters and Peter Guber, stars Nicolas Cage and Sandra Bullock, and maybe even Tim Burton himself. If the documentary surpasses its funding goal, Schnepp intends to shoot actual scenes from the Superman Lives script.

Funding incentives for the project include a digital download and/or DVD/Blu-ray of the finished documentary, a limited edition 27″ x 40″ Superman Lives poster, t-shirts, special prints, and exclusive original artwork.
