So how about this: For the upcoming Romeo and Juliet adaptation by director Carlo Carlei, the main roles are actually being cast by age-appropriate actors. As fellow Flixist editor, Alec Kubas-Meyer said in one of our emails, “…they’re casting actual youngsters. That’s f*cking weird, but awesome.”
Kodi Smit-McPhee, most recently seen in Let Me In, will be playing Benvolio in one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays. He joins fellow youngster and rising Hollywood star, Hailee Steinfeld, who will be playing the titular Juliet.
Romeo’s casting still hasn’t been announced, but do you have any guesses as to who’d be playing the hopeless romantic?[via Variety]
