Kristen Stewart booted from ‘Snow White’ franchise

[Update: Deadline reports that Universal has denied THR’s original story, stating that there’s no truth to reports that Stewart has been dropped from the potential sequel. This could still mean that Universal is just trying to avoid a PR problem for dropping a lead actress after she had a very public affair with a director, so either story is plausible until an official announcement about a Snow White sequel comes out.]

Allegedly (but not confirmed by Universal) due to her “scandalous” affair with the director of Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders, Kristen Stewart has been unceremoniously been written out of Universal’s future plans for the Huntsman franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has scrapped the planned sequel to Snow White and instead will focus their efforts of producing a spin-off film centered around Chris Hemsworth’s Huntsman.

While the first Huntsman film didn’t review too well, it was popular with a certain demographic, like my sister. For some reason, she loved the hell out of it. I’m not really sure why since Kristen Stewart has trouble emoting once she opens her mouth, and Hemsworth’s Huntsman (say that five times fast) was extremely droll. We both agreed, however, that the film’s sort of saving graces were Charlize Theron and the world looking really, really enchanting.

Universal is focusing on the wrong character. I would prefer more of the cheesetastic Theron than more of Thor with an axe. I’m also not sure how much money the franchise will bring in now that “Twi-hards” like myself aren’t going to be watching them now that K-Stew is no longer involved. Oh well, guess K-Stew can go back to sleeping in her large pile of money.
