Kurt Russell joins Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast as Star-Lord’s father

So the twist in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy was the reveal by Yondu and gang that they didn’t just kidnap Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, aka Chris Pratt, they were hired by his father to do so. It wasn’t exactly explosively revelatory, as the line was delivered towards the film’s conclusion, for their were obviously plot driven questions about who Peter Quill’s father is throughout the film.

That said, the film did enough to build up the question as a mystery that it should not be a surprise that much of the sequel will deal with the Guardians attempting to solve this mystery as they ride along in the groovily painted Mystery Machine Milano with their pet greyhound who happens to be brown and love a certain variety of snacks tree creature and raccoon.

Well, the 2017 San Diego Comic Con said screw that waiting bs: here’s who his dad is! And it was Kurt Russell. Oh snap. Looks like the team got even bigger than reported it had a week ago.

So I can only imagine the types of zany one-liners that Snake Plisken / Wyatt Earp / Jack Burton is going to bring to the table. He’s an 80s snark dropper extraordinaire, after all. And maybe he can reprise his colorful mullet. Here’s to hoping. In fact, I expect the movie to pretty much be a compilation highlight real of Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell bantering at each other, including the obligatory, you’re not my dad!

You're not my dad, Kurt Russell, you're a cell phone!
