Liam Neeson Returns to Old Man Action Yet Again in First Trailer for Honest Thief

Dude, you’re getting too old for this s**t. Despite claiming that he was done with thrillers and movies where he runs around shooting at people Liam Neeson’s new film, Honest Thief, looks basically exactly like that. In fact, from this first trailer and the, “I’m coming for you,” quote, it basically looks like Taken but with bank robbers… and a surprisingly strong cast.

The film clearly follows Tom Carter (Neeson) who is known as the In and Out bandit and has never been caught. But when he falls in love he decides to turn himself to the FBI. Unfortunately, the FBI people he turns himself into are total jerks and choose to steal on the money for themselves and kill Robert Patrick in the ensuing attempt. No one kills Robert Patrick except for Linda Hamilton! Thus starts a reverse chase, where Carter must track down the evil FBI agents and exact his revenge. As I said, it’s Taken but with more famous people.

The cast is ridiculous, though, so maybe they can turn what looks like yet another b-grade Neeson thriller into something more. Aside from Neeson himself, the movie has Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy), Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad), and Anthony Ramos (Hamilton). The ensemble cast includes Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Blindspotting). That’s a listing that reads like a big-budget action film, not a random thriller.

Honest Thief is hoping to open in theaters on October 9 but given the direction of the pandemic in the U.S. that’s mightly hopeful.
