With Disney’s adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods hitting theaters soon, the jig is essentially up. It can’t hide the fact it’s a musical anymore, especially with recent promotional material finally showing off that fact, so it’s do or die from here. Now we have the first song, “On the Steps of the Palace,” to discuss.
Performed by Anna Kendrick (who can sang, gurl) as Cinderella, it’s definitely pleasant. I’ve never seen the musical itself, so I can’t tell you if it’s a faithful performance, but my ears like what they hear. What about you all? Into the Woods releases Christmas Day.
