I’m rooting for Jem and the Holograms. Firstly because there’s a good chance this film will inspire other films like it, and we need more girl power band films, and secondly, I don’t feel like we’ve got a good look at the film until now. The first trailer didn’t inspire too much faith since it was edited to be just another teenager film Universal puts out all the time, but with our first tease of the Hologram’s original work…I’m kind of interested.
Although their look clashes with the song as they’re Lady Gaga-esque fashions scream electronica pop rather than pop rock, I dig the song, so I can’t wait to hear more. But looking at the most recent trailer (posted below) where Synergy is now a projector robot…uhhhhh….
Jem and the Holograms opens October 23rd.
