Lucas Black joins Fast & Furious 7, 8 and 9

Lucas Black, who played Sean (the main character) in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, has now signed on as a regular cast member in the next three Fast & Furious movies. Lucas Black returning to the series is a big deal since he was a main character that suddenly disappeared for three films. But now he’s cool enough to join Toretto’s crew. Buckle up, because this next bit is a little bumpy.

Now if you’ll recall at the end of Furious 6, something happens that places Tokyo Drift as the last film in the series’ continuity. So the order of this surprisingly convoluted set of films is: The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and finally, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Also notable in this bit of news is that Universal is truly going forward with its ramped up “one a year” production schedule for the Fast series. And that means we’re that much closer to the tenth film, FasTen Your Seatbelts. But now that has me curious as to who else they could bring back. BowWow? Ja Rule? That one Mexican guy that’s a gang member in every movie ever?
