Lucasfilm to fight cancer with lightsabers

To coincide with the Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga tomorrow, Lucasfilm has decided to be awesome and give back to those in need. They’re teaming up with celebrities, eBay, and Major League Baseball to support Stand Up to Cancer, an organization that funds cancer research. Their slogan is “Use the Force for Good.” I imagine having the Force at their disposal would certainly make it easier for scientists to find a cure!

Celebrities including Seth Rogen, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Aziz Ansari, Zach Galifianakis, Emma Stone, and, of course, Sam Motherf***in’ Jackson, have recreated some well-loved scenes from the movies in order to raise awareness. Once you’ve had a good dose of nostalgia, you can head over to eBay to bid on a whole bunch of cool collectibles. There’s actually a Star Wars car on there. A car. That is awesome. You can also win dinner with George Lucas, John Lasseter, and Francis Ford Coppola, but they might make you eat your veggies. If you don’t have millions of dollars at your disposal, there are also T-shirts on Stand Up to Cancer’s website.

Star Wars fans who also enjoy going outside will be able to enjoy themed Major League Baseball games in select areas around the country, featuring costumed characters, photo ops with VIPS, and giveaways. I do not know anything about baseball and can recognize some of the teams on there, so if your team is playing, it’s well worth a visit! Maybe Lord Vader will pitch. That would be cool.
