Which is why I am happy to report that his Grindhouse spin-off character Machete will be the subject of a possible two sequels, with the first sequel already well on its way to being made. Speaking recently in Los Angeles, Trejo revealed that Robert Rodriguez has already scripted the next installment featuring Trejo’s knife-wielding ex-Federale.
Bloody Disgusting got the tip from Machete himself, who said, “I asked [Rodriguez] when he was going to write it and he says it’s written, so we can get started pretty quick.” Reflecting on the success of the first film, Trejo also said, “We went all over the world with that movie and people kept having me sign these Machete action figures, it was a lot of fun…I don’t even think Robert Rodriguez even expected that reception and now everyone is waiting for Machete 2 so hurry up Robert Rodriguez!”Â
Yeah, hurry up Robert Rodriguez! Trejo also revealed that the first sequel will be titled Machete Kills, followed by Machete Kills Again.
