By We’ve known that the sequel to Magic Mike was coming for a while now and a few weeks back we learned it would be called Magic Mike XXL. After all why not let all those actors strip off their clothes again for our viewing enjoyment? The original was actually a pretty solid film when it was in it’s element (that element being mostly naked men, Olivia Munn naked, and glistening abs). Now we know when we can get more of that good stuff: July 3, 2015.
Aside from now having wedding anniversary plans with my wife nailed down I like this release date too because it’s hella ballsy. Magic Mike was an indy dramady and the July 4 weekend isn’t really the place you find those. Warner Bros. is clearly hoping to be the counter to the action-packed weekend and steal away those of the fairer sex who might not want to see Terminator:Genesis and the myriad of other action films dominating summer of 2015. With star Channing Tatum stating that he believes everyone will be returning for the film I’m thinking this is a good move.
