Man of Steel is a reboot, still won’t make Superman cool

My comic book allegiances are strictly in Marvel’s side, yet I tend to like the DC films a whole lot better. Of course, this doesn’t include the Man of Steel, Superman. I’ve always felt that Superman was outdated with a shoddy rogues gallery and way too powerful. How ironic is it that a piece of his home planet would be his only weakness?

Apparently, Zach Snyder feels the same way, at least to a point. According to an interview he did with Hero Complex, he wants to change the perceptions people have about Superman movies:

“Superman is the one constant in the universe. You know that if you do Superman right — or at least if you do him with respect — you know you end up with something great…. [but] in some ways [beyond] that is virgin territory. No one knows what that is. In some ways Superman is the most recognizable superhero on the planet but also the most unknown. Just what he can be? People have preconceived ideas about him but probably all of them are wrong.”

Somehow, I don’t think he’ll be able to actually make Superman, the character, interesting in any way. DC fans, care to make a rebuttal?
