Marisa Tomei in talks to play Aunt May for Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot

Although I’m having trouble deciding whether or not a new set of Spider-Man films (thanks to Spider-Man joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe) is a good or bad idea, I’m definitely looking forward to them now. When they announced some kid as the new Spider-Man, I didn’t bat an eye, but Sony and Marvel now have my full attention.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marisa Tomei is in final talks to play the re-reboot’s Aunt May, previously played by Sally Field and Rosemary Harris. There’s been a terribly misguided reaction on the internet, too. Some say she’s “too young and hot” to play the aunt, but why is that a problem? Regardless of how “young” or “hot” she is, she’s a damn goddess. Tomei deserves to be in all things, forever.

In fact in the Ultimate universe line of comics (before Marvel blew it up with Secret Wars this summer), Aunt May was in her late 40s. Tomei is perfect. She’s just the best. I’d even take that Aunt May movie now, thank you.
