Mark Wahlberg finally admits the obvious: The Happening blew

Leave it to Marky Mark to say what we’ve all been thinking for years: The Happening blew. Hard. John Leguizamo gets the award for ‘Best Waste of an Actor’s Talent,’ Clerks star Brian O’Halloran appears as some eyes in a rear-view mirror, and THE TREES DID IT. What!? I’m usually an M. Night Shyamalan apologist, but there was no excuse for The Happening and even Mark Wahlberg agrees. Here’s what he had to say at a press conference for The Fighter:

“I was such a huge fan of [Amy Adams]. We’d actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie, and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. I don’t want to tell you what movie… All right, The Happening with M. Night Shyamalan. It is was it is. F*cking trees, man, the plants. F*ck it. You can’t blame me for wanting to try to play a science teacher. You know? I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.

He’s right, I can’t blame him. The blame rests squarely on Shyamalan. He’s the one that wrote a story about trees making everyone kill themselves…

The Fighter comes out December 10th, and will probably not be as bad as The Happening.
