Marvel Studios spills the beans on Marvel film future

Are you burnt out by all of the hype leading up to this year’s Marvel Studios trifecta of X-Men: First Class, Thor, and Captain America? If not, I’ve got some more news. Everybody knows the huge opus that is The Avengers is coming out next summer, but what’s coming next? Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige discussed the future of the Marvel Studios brand with D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and IGN was able to get a sneak peek at the interview.

Besides giving insight on the business side of Disney distributing their movies starting with The Avengers, Feige hinted at other established Marvel characters getting in on some live-action, big-screen fun:

Thor will go off into a new adventure, and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own. We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film — Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. —all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films. And, we’ve got a lot of other characters we’re prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined.”

The most interesting bit is the hint at an Iron Fist movie. Sure, a Dr. Strange or Hawkeye movie would be awesome (especially if they follow the Ultimate Hawkeye depiction), but having an all-out Marvel karate movie would be bad ass. And it definitely wouldn’t be Iron Fist without Luke Cage in the mix.
