Melies’ remastered Trip to the Moon to screen in Chicago

0

Georges Méliès’ unequivocal masterpiece A Trip to the Moon was recently remastered and the new version now has completely hand-painted color as well as a soundtrack by the French atmospheric band Air. At the time, we were unsure of how to view this tantalizing experience aside from a few short clips.

Now, however, my lucky fellow Chicagoans have a chance to see the entirety of the piece at the Gene Siskel Film Center in downtown Chicago – this week only! Details can be found here, and the dates and times of the screenings are listed below. Even though I’m ridiculously busy this week with trying to get things ready for my senior thesis art show, I am definitely going to make it to one of these screenings, because you’d be an absolute fool to pass up this chance to see such a wonderful, rare piece! I’d recommend buying tickets early, too, as these screenings might sell out quickly.
