Mission: Impossible 7 gets new title and release date

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning

After a million different delays and setbacks, Mission: Impossible 7 will finally be released next summer. Tom Cruise is probably tired from running all over the place, but fans of the series will be happy to know that Paramount has decided on a title for Ethan Hunt’s potentially final mission. Instead of MI7, we can now call the film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Part One).

At CinemaCon this week (which has revealed a ton of information on upcoming films), convention goers were given a small preview of the film alongside the reveal of the title. While we don’t know exactly what was in the footage -a teaser will be attached to Top Gun: Maverick next month-, one of the big stunts this time is that Tom Cruise drives a motorcycle off of a cliff. That sounds positively ridiculous and makes me think of Police Story 3: Supercop.

Unless something else happens in the world, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Part One) will slam into theaters on July 14, 2023. Dead Reckoning (Part Two) will follow the next year on June 28, 2024. I’m not sure if this confirms that the two films will be directly linked with part one ending on a cliffhanger, but it at least confirms that the eighth installment won’t be a completely different film.
