I know there’s a kind of through plotline for the Mission: Impossible films, but at this point the franchise feels more like James Bond in its connecting film to film. The same characters are there, but as a whole the movies aren’t really building up to anything other than awesome action and stories. I’m very much OK with that.
This first full trailer for the film jumps into a plot that is happening, and maybe the previous movies happened, but really this just seems like another good excuse for Tom Cruise to do more crazy stunts. The action looks stellar, Cruise looks Cruise, and the mission seems all mixed up and complex. Basically the franchise has turned into a ridiculous parody of itself and it’s all the better for it.
Finally, I am contractually obligated to point out Henry Cavill’s mustache so that you can all be reminded of the horror that is digitally-removed Superman stache.
