Monday Movie Trivia: James Cameron & OJ Simpson

A family member gave me The Indispensable Book of Useless Information as an early Christmas gift, and I’ve learned and remembered several awesome pieces of movie trivia. Over the coming weeks I’ll share some of the cooler finds from the book, which is a cheap five dollar stocking stuffer on Amazon. Hit the jump for some fun James Cameron trivia!

O.J. Simpson was considered for the lead role in The Terminator, but the producers thought he seemed too nice to play the villainous role.

The trademark line “I’ll be back” was originally written as “I’ll come back” in the script.

James Cameron later married the Sarah Connor actress, Linda Hamilton. Cameron has actually been married five times; once to a producer of his film, and twice to actresses from his films.

I’m sure this one was talked about heavily back when Titanic was still in theaters, but I had completely forgotten that James Cameron himself was the one who made the famous charcoal portrait in the famous Kate Winslet nude scene.

In Avatar, Sigourney Weaver’s Na’vi version wore a Stanford tank top, which was actually Sigourney’s idea as a nod to her having graduated from that school. Also, Sigourney Weaver was born Susan Weaver!

James Cameron didn’t invent the word Unobtainium; it’s a term that’s been used in the engineering industry since the late 1950s to describe any rare, costly, or yet to be discovered material.
