Monster Inc. 2 may be a prequel

I am the first person to point out that Hollywood’s dependency on sequels is a bit depressing. Usually movies series just go downhill after the first one, especially when they weren’t designed to be a series. However, if Pixar’s track record stands true (Toy Story 3 is their best movies ever) then I can accept them making more sequels or, as it may turn out, prequels.

Rumor is having it that Monsters Inc. 2 will be a prequel instead of a sequel. A theater catalog found by French site Disney Central Plaza and explained a bit further by Animatie has given a bit of info on the movie. The catalog hints that the film will be about Mike and Sulley’s time at the University of Fear where they will star off as enemies, but by the end become the close friends we saw them as in the original Monsters Inc.

Of course the movie is barely underway at the moment and we don’t even know who is set to direct it. This means that all prequel/sequel talk should be taken with a monster size grain of sale. Get it? Because it’s a movie about monsters… ahh, you get it.
