More possible casting choices for Hunger Games

Twenty-year-old Jennifer Lawrence will soon have some company in her role as protagonist Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. Auditions are being held for the roles of Gale, Katniss’ best friend and hunting partner back home, and also for Peeta, the other tribute from her district. For the role of Peeta, Josh Hutcherson, Hunter Parrish, Evan Peters, Alexander Ludwig, and Lucas Till have tried so far. Liam Hemsworth, David Henrie, Robbie Amell, and Drew Roy are vying for Gale.

Given that the casting of Katniss had little to do with Lawrence’s appearance, it’s hard to tell who’s most likely to get the role. Peeta is supposed to be sixteen, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Hunter Parrish and Lucas Till seem like the best fit on looks alone, though Till is closer to Lawrence in age. Gale is eighteen with dark coloring like Katniss. None of the actors listed are quite there, but neither is Lawrence. They’d all be a decent fit, though David Henrie looks much too young for the part.

If you can’t tell, we at Flixist are pretty excited for this movie. The first book is fantastic and brutal, and it could be really fascinating if done right. Here’s hoping!
