The first Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie was a pretty decent effort at bringing Alvin Schwartz’s books to the big screen. It captured some of the more famous stories well and with it making over 100 million it was a fair assumption that a sequel would be greenlit. Lucky for them there are still plenty of stories they didn’t cover the first time around. The wealth of unused material and the success of the first film have led to them reuniting the original band for the sequel.
André Øvredal will come back as the director for the second go-round. Guillermo del Toro will return to supply the screen story that the returning screenwriters, Dan and Kevin Hageman, will run with. Who knows which stories they will cover but if they can produce the same level of quality as before then we may have an anthology series on our hands.
