National Film Registry adds 25 films including Airplane!

0

Many will be happy to see Airplane! and The Exorcist make the cut, most will be ecstatic about seeing Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back on the list, but the one I’m most thrilled about is All The President’s Men.

For those of you not familiar with the way the National Film Registry works, they basically ignore the Internet’s virtues and snoodily add 25 films to the Library of Congress each year to preserve as important American culture pieces. The only stipulation seems to be that a movie needs to be at least a decade old, which means most of their annual announcements tend to have a “Really? That hasn’t been included yet?” result on readers.

Check out all 25 inductees after the jump and let us know which you’re most proud to see and which you’ve never heard of before but now plan to rent.
