The French animation director Sylvain Chomet’s next film will most likely be Swing Popa Swing. This new film is to follow the success of Chomet’s first feature-length film, The Triplets of Belleville, where it will follow the three sisters in their youth.

Swing Popa Swing is very early in its development seeking financial partners where it won’t be released until at least 2014. The film supposedly is to have the sisters in their youth as they deal with their father who hopes the study medicine instead of music. It is also have sci-fi elements where there will be aliens and CIA and KGB agents who are trying to capture their spaceship.

Yep, it definitely is of the same odd variety as The Triplets of Belleville which I am excited about! Apparently, the film may be developed as a stereoscopic 3D CG-animated film, but that is a small rumor which I am hoping isn’t true because I love the unique animation style. But like I said, that last tidbit is something that a producer said in passing. So I guess we’ll have to see!
