New Flintstones animated series in development

Yabba Dabba Doo!! Have we got some good news for you. Ok, I’ll stop with the rhyming. Yesterday, exclusive news from Variety revealed that The Flintstones is indeed going to make its way back to TV. Helmed by Elizabeth Banks’ Brownstone Productions, it will be produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

Now while it will feature characters from The Flintstones, it is an entirely new concept. This new version will essentially be a primetime animated adult comedy series. For fans of the series like myself who grew up with such favorites as Fred, Wilma, Barney, and the gang, this is quite a surprise and a welcome blast from the past.

Sadly, no network has come forward yet, but since it did originally air on ABC my best bet is them. I am sure it won’t be too hard for The Flintstones or whatever this new version will be called to find itself a home. All you have to do is look at Netflix to see old favorites coming back such as Carmen Sandiego and She-Ra Princess of Power. I for one am excited to watch the development unfold on this and return to good old Bedrock.
