By Andre 3000 (Andre Benjamin of OutKast) will be playing Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic All is By My Side. Well, he will sort of be playing Jimi Hendrix. He won’t actually be playing any Jimi Hendrix, because the Hendrix Estate has refused to license any of the rights to the artist’s music.
The film, written and directed by John Ridley, will cover only the year 1966-67, wherein Keith Richards’ girlfriend Linda Keith (who will be played by Haley Atwell) put Hendrix in touch with some big names, he formed his band (the Jimi Hendrix Experience), and recorded many of his most iconic songs. Well, except for that none of the songs will actually be in the movie. But, look, Andre 3000 kinda looks a bit like Jimi! So it will probably all turn out ok.
