New poster for Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain is all man

In the lull between his Transformers movies, Michael Bay has been working on something a bit more low-key, or at least as low-key as a Bay picture can get while still managing to be ridiculous. Pain & Gain stars Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg as two weight trainers who get mixed up in some criminal high jinks that don’t turn out so well, at least for the guy end up kidnapping. Based on a true story, the film is going for the lighter side of criminal acts and is being billed as an ‘action comedy’. Bad Boys III anyone?

To be fair, even though I have quite a distaste for Bay’s films, this one looks like it could be a winner. Johnson and Wahlberg can easily pull off being two muscle head schmucks, and that alone would be entertaining enough. Plus, this will warm us up to Wahlberg starring in a Bay film, which is apparently something we should start getting used to.

You can catch the official synopsis of Pain & Gain down below, with the full poster available in the gallery.

From acclaimed director Michael Bay comes “Pain and Gain,” a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson and Bar Paly also star. The film is based on magazine articles by Pete Collins, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and produced by Donald DeLine, Michael Bay and Ian Bryce.
