A few months ago, a synopsis of Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien-related movie, Prometheus, was leaked, apparently offering a detailed account of the story and its themes. You can read it here, but beware of possible spoilers. Understandably, no-one involved in the production commented on the leak and with precious few details to go on, everything has been speculation up to this point. However, Fox have released a new synopsis on the movie’s Facebook page which hints at the authenticity of the leak. The official synopsis reads:
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Despite that synopsis’ evident lack of detail, there are enough connections between it and the leaked one to imagine that there is some degree of authenticity to the latter. We’ll only know for sure, though, when the movie is released on June 8th 2012, with a spectacular cast including Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Idris Elba.
