By See that look onJosh Duhamel’s face in the header? That’s about how I feel about this week’s new releases. Lots of mediocre movies coming out at once is kind of like my kryptonite. Wes Craven’s My Soul to Take missed out on becoming a memorable new horror IP for the new decade. You Again was kind of blah, even with Kristen Bell, my waifu, taking center stage. Life as We Know It and Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls are also out, to go five-for-five in lackluster films.
Fortunately, all is not lost. There are a few diamonds in this rough. It’s Kind of a Funny Story and Paranormal Activity 2 were both quality movies and I whole-heartedly recommend both. Also out this week is the grindhouse remake of I Spit On Your Grave, which could be good or terrible, but I’m intrigued either way (the original also got released this week, if you’re interested in seeing it alongside the remake). There’s also a Blu-ray release of Uncle Buck! Yes!
