By The Mother’s Day remake, from what I remember, was pretty alright in terms of remakes of Troma films from long ago. Lots of blood, psychological torture, and uncomfortable situations. Just the thing to leave for mom under the Mother’s Day tree!
For big releases this week, it’s kind of blah. If you’re like Jamie, you’ll enjoy Underworld: Awakening. I was going to do a Losing My Virginity for the first three films but I barely got through thr first two and had entirely given up by the third. All that potential wasted on melodrama. It’s seriously a blue-tinted Twilight series with guns. We also have The Vow and Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, which both went over kind of luke-warm. There’s a ton of smaller releases this week too, but hell if I know what any of them are. Journalism!
If you’re into dancing all dirty-like, there’s a two-movie Dirty Dancing set out for your consumption, but the biggest news in the re-release world is Gremlins 2 on Blu-ray. As much as I love not over-drafting my bank account, I don’t think I can wait to scoop that up today.
