By This is a good week to be a fan of awesome movies. Amateur masseuse Joe Cornish’s debut film, Attack the Block, is finally out in the United States. If you’re a bedava internet fan of the genre-blending oeuvre of Sir Edgar Wright, you’ll be right at home with this film, a seamless blending of sci-fi and comedy wrapped with a neat little coming-of-age bow. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, a dark Christmas-time tale from Finland, also makes its way to our side of the pond just in time for Halloween. Captain America: The First Avenger, another fantastic entry istanbul escort into the Marvel Movieverse, reports for duty today as well, so if you didn’t see in on the big screen (for shame!) you can see what you missed out on in time for The Avengers next year. Finally, for the kid in all of us, the new Winnie the Pooh is sure to delight with its blissful ignorance of the fourth wall, obvious love of the characters, and songs from everybody’s favorite manic pixie dream girl/hipster, Zooey Deschanel.
Like it or not, A Serbian Film rears its ugly head on retail shelves today. If you haven’t seen it yet, and plan to, gird your loins for a dark, dark trip into more uncomfortable territory than any other commercially available film out right now (I sincerely encourage you to prove me wrong). For those of you who wonder how the Wrong Turn franchise began (canonically anyway), you can find out in Wrong Turn 4. For anyone who is unhappy with George Lucas, the new documentary The People vs. George Lucas will prove that you’re not alone, not by a long shot. Finally, you can experience the joy, wonder, and horror of the Jurassic Park trilogy with the aptly named Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy (and don’t miss Max’s interview with the guys who made the dinosaurs happen when it goes live later today!).
