By I have been writing a lot of words lately. It’s my first go at NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month if you’re nasty) and so far it’s coming along wonderfully. The goal is 50,000 words by November 30th, and I’m up 20,323 words and it’s only the 8th! Let’s celebrate with an arguably mediocre week of new releases!
Today’s release of Atlas Shrugged: Part One will finally provide all the College Lit class slackers with an alternative to reading the book, or the first part at least. The Change-Up will make those of us who can squint their eyes enough to make Olivia Wilde and Leslie Mann’s CGI nudity look legit very, very happy. Mortal Kombat: Legacy, a new Beethoven Christmas movie, a new Barbie Christmas movie, and some other stuff came out too. Like I said: -apathetic shrug-
Lots of non-Pixar animated movies out today on the space-age 3D Blu-ray format, namely Bolt, Chicken Little, and Meet the Robinsons. I’ve only seen the latter, but all three are probably cool in 3D, presuming you have a large room of space dollars to pay for such futuristic technology. On the Criterion front, Fanny and Alexander is out on Blu-ray (decidedly less 3D than the previously mentioned films, however). And, finally, most importantly, on the heels of last week’s Hopper-fueled podcast, Blue Velvet is out. After writing over 8500 words today (well, yesterday, it’s 12:32 AM right now), I could absolutely go for a PBR or four.
