New video posits what Man of Steel would look like without that dreary color palette

It’s not overstating things to say that, as a movie, Man of Steel had a lot of problems. One of those was the fact that Zack Snyder’s vision of Superman involved a dreary, washed-out color palette – plenty of fans were annoyed that Supes was clad in muted blues and reds instead of the bright primary colors he usually flies around in. Apparently the folks over at VideoLab were among them, so they decided to step in to see what might have been.

Their video, which cheekily asks “What if Man of Steel was in color?” shows the contrast between the original film and the film after their color restoration. It’s not always perfect, but there are several shots that are rather striking in their difference – the simple addition of a blue sky or Superman’s cape being a bright, vibrant red instantly transform those shots. It’s definitely worth a look.
