Opening scene of The Divide leaves NYC in ruins

THE DIVIDE - Opening Scene

Back in October, we gave you the trailer for The Divide, an intense-looking post-apocalyptic thriller directed by Xavier Gens. We also reported that The Divide will be released uncut and unrated. This unrated cut will feature footage that hasn’t been seen at any prior screenings or festivals.

Just released today is the opening scene of the film. It’s essentially the first portion of the trailer, but with the panic fully fleshed out. Here’s a quick synopsis of The Divide in case you haven’t kept up with it:

Survivors of a nuclear attack are grouped together for days in the basement of their apartment building, where fear and dwindling supplies wear away at their dynamic.

The real drama is what happens after this initial 90 seconds, but it’s a nice taste of the desperate, claustrophobic mayhem to come, especially if the people who get nuked are the ones that got off easy.
