Paramount making moves to distribute Bond

0

While we know that MGM has finally gotten its act together and confirmed Bond 23 will be coming out and star Daniel Craig it is actually still up in the air what company will distribute the film. Sony distributed both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace to resounding success and the franchise is obviously a major boon for whatever company can get its hands on it. So who is the lucky dog this time? It may be Paramount.

Thanks to a close relationship between MGM’s and Paramount’s top brass (because it’s who you know, not what) it seems Paramount is getting the first crack at negotiating the rights to distribution. Sony must not be too pleased at this news, but even the Broccoli family, who own the Bond rights, are said to be accepting of Paramount so it could be a done deal within in the next few weeks.

If it does get done the agreement could set some major precedents as far as distribution rights go. Bond is a known money maker and Paramount is sure to want a deal that gets them more than one film out of it.
